ISO 15189:2022 What labs need to know about the changes

2025 UBC Certificate Course in Laboratory Quality Management

Queen’s Master of Health Professions Education Program

Unlock your future as a health professions educator! Queen's Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) program is currently accepting applications for the 2025 Cohort. Applications are due April 1, 2025.

 

Practicing health professionals and individuals in the final stages of their training are invited to explore their future as a health professions educator. Queen's MHPE program is a 2-year, cohort-based degree program with 8 blended courses that provides health professionals the flexibility to continue working to meet their professional obligations.

Certificate Program in Clinical Laboratory Leadership and Management

Effective leadership and management of strong teams are crucial to the success of any organization, including medical laboratories. To deliver quality laboratory services, competent leadership and management are imperative. Leadership skills are particularly critical for those working in clinical laboratories that provide test results to inform patient care, and they are a vital component of the healthcare system.  University of Washington Medicine is recruiting an initial cohort for our pilot of these three online courses designed to teach leadership and management concepts and skills. These are essential to laboratory staff in supervisory positions, or those seeking to become supervisors.

CBS Professional Education Website

Canadian Blood Services supports best practices in transfusion medicine through the development of educational resources - Profedu.ca. Written by subject-matter experts from across Canada, these transfusion medicine resources support clinical practice and help health-care professionals stay current in an ever-changing field.

​

CBS has also recently published the Virtual Tour, an online, self-paced tour of the step-by-step journey of a whole blood donation from donor to recipient. This overview of Canadian Blood Services’ step-by-step process includes the standards for collection, manufacturing, testing, labelling, storage and distribution to hospitals where transfusions save lives for Canadian recipients. The Virtual Tour is designed to support everyone in accessing the knowledge they need to learn about the blood system. Learners can browse the main pages of the tour to get an overview of the main steps in our process and can also take a deep dive into the world of transfusion by clicking on specially curated resources.

MHP 2.0 Symposium

It’s been almost five years since the release of Ontario’s First Recommendation Statements for Massive Hemorrhage Protocol. Join Ontario MHP to discuss what’s changed, what’s new and what’s emerging!

Participants will be able to:


1. Summarize changes to Ontario’s First Recommendations to Massive Hemorrhage Protocol and identify strategies to address hospital policy change and implementation.
2. Explain the role of whole blood in pre-hospital setting.
3. Recognize need and demonstrate ability to activate a protocol in a simulated setting.
4. List strategies to achieve high level of team and protocol adherence.
