The MLPAO is the certifying body for Medical Laboratory Assistants/Technicians (MLA/Ts) in the province of Ontario. Refresher Courses are available. The MLPAO has created two reference guides that are available for purchase as well as the MLPAO Study Package. Additional external courses are also available.

The MLPAO has created two reference guides that are available for purchase: (select the link) Acts & Regulations - descriptions and sections of acts and regulations of Canada and Ontario that are relevant to laboratory assistants/technicians. Histology & Cytology - descriptions and sections covering histology and cytology relevant to laboratory assistants/technicians.
MLPAO Study Package
MLPAO Study Package is a self-studying option available for purchase. The study package includes a textbook (Clinical Laboratory Science: Concepts, Procedures, and Clinical Applications, 9th Edition), Histology & Cytology reference booklet, Acts & Regulations reference booklet and some example multiple choice questions and answers. It is not recommended for current students or recent graduates.
